6 Ways to Be In a Relationship and Maintain Your Grades

Relationships and school work are two huge commitments an individual could make. They both require significant amount of time in order for them to grow.
While some kick against being in a relationship while pursuing a degree, some others find it worthwhile.
Are you in a relationship and pursuing a degree? Are you contemplating being in a relation while in school? Do you feel relationships are a distraction for a student? This post is for you.
Below are 6 ways you can be in a relationship and still keep up your grades. Number 6 will surprise you.

1. Pick someone you have something in common with
If you are a honor roll student and member of any key club, but you're interested in the slacker in the back row, you will have conflicted interests. More importantly, if you are a needy person and you want to date a loner, you will have problems getting to a comfortable intimacy level. Try to find someone that you think you can relate to – socially and mentally.

2. Develop your own personality
Nothing is less attractive to the opposite sex than a person with no confidence, hobby or personality of their own. If you're creative, get involved with something creative be it writing or the likes. Get out there and meet people and be able to have something to bring to the conversation.

3. Avoid Long Distance Relationships
Long distance relationships add so much stress to an already stressful life of being a student. Some can cope with long distance relationships while others cant. But whatever the case maybe, consider your circumstances and decide which works for you best.

4. Have an Open Communication
A healthy relationship with an open communication and mutual understanding have the potential to work. When there are no communications, this makes the life of you as a student strenuous and difficult. Talk to one another about problems instead of jumping into conclusions. Communication will help you avoid a hundred and one couple fights.

5. Establish Boundaries
If you dont know what the boundaries are in your relationship, establish them so that you do not end up in an uncomfortable situation. Once the boundaries are established, demand that they should be respected. Also make sure that no one crosses them.

6. Include Your Parents
You may say this is not necessary. Your parents knowing that you are in a relationship could help you grow both in your academics and in your romantic life. They might have been in your shoes and as such could provide needed advise. However, if you keep agendas hidden from them or refuse to let them know or meet who who are in a relationship with, this will be more stress for you as being secretive can be very stressful.
